“You don’t write because you want to say something, you write because you have something to say.” — F. Scott Fitzgerald
Critique Circle has proven to be a huge help to me, so I want to do a little promotion of this group. What is it? Well, CC is based in Iceland but has followers all around the world. To date, there are over 3,000 followers, almost 100,000 stories that have been posted on this site, and coming close to 500,000 critiques.
CC exists to match writers with people who are willing to edit or critique your chapters or short stories. CC has a few levels of membership. The first is free with the others based on a paid membership. The paid membership is a two-tier structure which can be paid for by subscription. There is a month-to-month option, a yearly option, or a two-year option. The higher the plan, the less expensive it becomes.
CC’s members are called “critters.” Each story costs 3 credits to post, but these are earned by critiquing the writing of other stories. Some stories merit 1 credit while others can earn you 1 1/2 credits if the story is over a certain length. Some critters are professional editors or writers who are premium members desiring to help others. It provides a great learning experience when you can get 4-6 critiques on your story. You go away with the ability to improve your writing as well as to gain a little experience in critiquing the writing of others.
I would recommend that each person who desires to write visit Critique Circle or find a similar site. It will be worth your time to join such a group.
